Mozambique national football team
The Mozambican national football team is the national team of the southeast African country of Mozambique. Mozambique has not yet been able to qualify for a World Cup. For the African Cup of Nations so far could be four times, most recently to qualify in 2010, but resigned at each participating already made in the first round.

From Mozambique comes Eusébio, the European football shaped strongly in the 60s and was elected in 1965 European Footballer of the Year. However, he played for the selection of Portugal.
Tournaments
World cup
For its first participation in a World Cup qualifier for the tournament in Spain in 1982 Mozambique failed in the first round of the team of Zaire, now the Democratic Republic of Congo. After a 2:5 away defeat the East Africans also lost the return match in Maputo 1-2.
Four years later, Mozambique did not participate in the qualifying for the playoffs for Italy in 1990 it has not been approved by FIFA. The qualifying for the 1994 World Cup in the USA, the Mozambican selection took part again, but it was in the first round of the CAF excretion in a group of three with 3:11 Last gates behind Senegal and Gabon. A 1-1 draw against Gabon in Maputo meant these, only one point gain Mozambique.
When qualifying for France 1998 Mozambique failed in the first round 0-2 (A) and 1:1 ( H) relatively scarce in Namibia play-off games. During the Qualifying for Germany 2006 Guinea was terminus in the first round. Mozambique lost his two games with 0:1 ( A) and 3:4 (H); the return match in Maputo striker scored Dário Monteiro by 0:4 - residue a hat-trick within 15 minutes.
The most successful qualification played Mozambique in the context of excretion for the on home continent held tournament in 2010. Particularly good results achieved Mozambique in the three home games of the third round, where they remained without conceding a goal. After a respectable 0-0 draw against Nigeria Kenya was defeated 1-0. With a surprising 1-0 victory against Tunisia on the last day of group matches they allowed the Nigerians, who won at the same time in Kenya and thus could still go by the Tunisians to participate in the final round.
In qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil, Mozambique first met in return game on the Comoros. After both games were won, they met in the group stage on Egypt, Guinea and the neighboring Zimbabwe, against which they could not prevail, and after four games had no chance of qualifying.
African Cup of Nations
After Mozambique, failed to qualify in his first two appearances at the play-off for the African Cup of Nations, they took in 1986 in Egypt after victories over Mauritius, Malawi and Libya for the first time at final round of the best teams of the African continent in part. In qualifying for the 2012 tournament Mozambique failed in a group with Zambia, Libya and the Comoros as a group of third parties.
