Mutěnice (Strakonice District)

Mutěnice ( German Muttenitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located two kilometers south Strakonic in South Bohemia and belongs to Okres Strakonice.

Geography

Mutěnice located in the foothills of the Bohemian Forest. The village is located on the left bank of the Volyňka at the mouth of the creek Smiradický creek. East of the Velka Kakada rises (564 m), the southwest Hradiště (604 m), the KBIL (664 m) and the Kamenná bába ( 557 m) and in the west of the V Holi (435 m). To the west stretches a pond area with the Velkoholský rybnik and five other ponds.

Neighboring towns are Kalvárie, Stara Valcha and Strakonice in the north, Přední Ptákovice in the northeast, Nebřehovice in the east, Zadnà Ptákovice and Kapsova Lhota in the southeast, Radošovice and Přední Zborovice in the south, Libětice and Sousedovice the southwest, Lhota u Svaté Anny, Drachkov and V Holi in the west and Pracejovice, Střela and Virt the northwest.

History

The first written mention of Mutinitze took place in 1243 as Bavors I of Strakonitz and his wife Dobislawa the village together with other goods which by them in the Church of Sts. Prokop gave in Strakonitz established formal convent of the Order of Malta. In 1840 there was Mutienitz / Mutěnice from 23 houses with 146 inhabitants. In the village there was a stately Grange and Hammelhof and a Dominikalmühle with sawmill. Vicarage was Strakonitz. Until the mid- 19th century, the village remained subservient always Strakonitz.

After the abolition of patrimonial Mutěnice / Mutienitz formed in 1850 a part of the community Radošovice in the District Commission and the Court of District Strakonice. In the second half of the 19th century a brick, a Fluoritbruch and a Fesfabrik. In 1887, Mute Nice sparked rid of Radošovice and formed its own community. The name was changed to the end of the 19th century in Mutěnice. At this time the Fluoritbruch was shut down. At the beginning of 1974, the village was incorporated into Strakonice. After a referendum Mutěnice became independent again on January 1, 1992.
