Geography

Location and Geology

New churches, due to its location in the Lower Elbe called New Churches / Lower Elbe, located on the Medem and Wilster. History

New churches was first mentioned in documents as Nigenkerken 1342. Further documented forms of the name are Nyenkerken (1406) and Nienkerken ( 1515). Dörringworth was mentioned already in 1139 as the seat of a knight of Turneworthe and was considered Koornkamer van Hadeln.

Incorporations

Brüninghemm, Pedingworth and part of scholia were incorporated in 1929 by New churches. Until then, they were part of the former town Osterende Otter village. Ecclesiastical include these parts but still Ottersdorf.

  • St. Mary's Church
