Olmedo, Sardinia

Olmedo is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 4040 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Sassari in Sardinia. The community is located about 17 kilometers southwest of Sassari.

History

In the 13th century the place Ulmetum was first mentioned.

Economy and Transport

In Olmedo an aluminum smelter is located. Through the community should result in future as the ring road Strada Statale 291 della nurra from Sassari to Alghero -Fertilia. The train station of Olmedo is on the narrow gauge railway from Sassari to Alghero.
