Padria

Padria is one of the oldest villages in the province of Sassari in Sardinia with 687 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012). It is located in a large valley surrounded by the Temo River and its tributaries, in the vicinity of Mount Minerva in a fertile field of Lougo d' Oro.

The solid from the Punic era to the present day settlement of the town, which is identified as the Roman Gurulius Vetus, and is quoted by the Greek geographer Ptolemy as Gouroulis Palaia, testifies the high age.

Through the area ran the way connections between the west coast ( Bosa ) and the hinterland. As evidence of the remains of Roman bridges, Ponte ETTORI, Ulumu Ponte and Ponte Enas serve ( the latter in the area of Bosa ).

Ponte ETTORI situated on the river Temo, 6 kilometers west of the village on the old road to Montresta. You can reach them on a small detour on a side road leading to the monument. From the original 38-meter bridge still 2 of 5 arches, along the soffit and part of the Innenlaibung of another arc on the opposite bank are obtained.

The present village counts 763 inhabitants (as of March 31, 2006 ), and 176 km from Cagliari and 58 km from Sassari. The immediate neighboring municipalities are: Mara and Pozzomaggiore. A little farther are Bosa (OR), Cossoine, Monteleone Rocca Doria, Romana, Macomer and Villanova Monteleone.

The village probably be Roman core, southeast of three small hills of basalt rock with the name of St. Paul, St. Peter and St. Joseph. South of the village lie the Domus de Janas of Chirisconis.
