Pembroke Park is a city in Broward County in the U.S. state of Florida with 6,102 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Pembroke Park is located at 25 ° 59'4 " north latitude and 80 ° 10'38 " west longitude. The city is situated on the east coast of Florida, about five kilometers from the Atlantic Ocean. The cities of Fort Lauderdale and Miami are located 15 km north and 20 km to the south. In the neighborhood of Miramar are in the West, Miami -Dade County in the south, Hallandale Beach to the east, and Hollywood in the Northeast. The Fort Lauderdale airport is located at a distance of 10 kilometers to the north. In the east, the city is affected by Interstate 95 and the Florida Turnpike runs a short distance to the west. In addition, the Florida State Road 858 runs through the town.

History

The city got its name because of its location on Pembroke Road, was established on 12 December 1957. A large part of the population lives in mobile homes. There are also pitches for caravans.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 6,102 inhabitants distributed to 3,695 households. The population density was 1326.5 inh. / Km ². 37.6 % of the population were white, 55.3 % African American, 0.3% Native American and 1.3% Asian Americans. 2.4% were members of other ethnic groups and 3.1% in different ethnic groups. 18.1 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 27.2 % of all households lived in 36.7 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 65.9 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.42 persons and the average family size is 2.88 people.

27.3 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 29.1% were 20-39 years old, 20.9% were 40-59 years old and 22.7 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 35 years. 46.8 % of the population were male and 53.2 % female.

The average annual income was $ 30,569, while 21.0 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 73.87 % of the population spoke Spanish 11.49% and 14.64 % had a different mother tongue.

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 237 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) within the average range. There were four murders, twelve rapes, 92 robberies, 168 injuries, 1,102 burglaries, 3,619 thefts, 305 vehicle thefts and five arson.
