Tamarac is a city in Broward County in the U.S. state of Florida with 60 427 inhabitants ( 2010). The metropolitan area has a size of 30.8 km ².

Geography

Tamarac is located about 15 km north- west of Fort Lauderdale and 40 km north of Miami. Clockwise Tamarac adjacent to Coral Springs, North Lauderdale, Lauderdale Lakes, Lauderhill and Sunrise. In the west the city is bordered by the Everglades.

History

In the 17th and 18th centuries lived here the Native Americans, the Indians from the tribe of Abaniki and mainly pirates, who were waiting for an opportunity to rob a Spanish galleon. At that time, many ships were laden with gold and silver, when they began the journey home.
