Weston is a city in Broward County in the U.S. state of Florida with 65,333 inhabitants ( 2010).

2008 Weston was dubbed by Money Magazine as the best city in the state of Florida.

Geography

Weston is located west of Sunrise and Davie and north of Southwest Ranches and Pembroke Pines on the edge of the Everglades.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 65,333 inhabitants distributed to 24,394 households. The population density was 1,062.3 inh. / Km ². 85.8 % of the population were white, 4.4% African American, 0.1% Native American and 4.6 % Asian Americans. 2.7% were members of other ethnic groups and 2.4% in different ethnic groups. 44.9 % of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 17.9 % of all households lived in 52.8 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 83.7 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 3.08 and the average family size is 3.38 people.

33.6 % of the population were younger than 20 years, 20.0 % were 20-39 years old, 34.6 % were 40-59 years old and 11.9 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 38 years. 48.5 % of the population were male and 51.5 % female.

The average annual income was $ 94,084, while 4.9 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 62.54 % of the population spoke Spanish 31.40% and 6.06% had a different mother tongue.

Parks

In the west there are several parks:

  • Tequesta Trace Park: has among other things baseball and soccer fields.
  • Vista Park: It located near the Cypress Bay High School and Falcon Cove Middle School.
  • Weston Regional Park: has a swimming pool, as well as a baseball and soccer field, playgrounds and much more.

Traffic

The urban area is affected by crosses or from Interstate 75, U.S. Highway 27 and the Florida State Roads 25, 84, 818 and 820. Not far northeast of the city branches on a traffic junction I-595 toward Fort Lauderdale and the SR 869 ( Sawgrass Expressway toll road) in the direction of Deerfield Beach I-75.

Crime

The crime rate in 2010 was 74 points ( U.S. average: 266 points ) in the low range. There were three rapes, five robberies, 30 injuries, 135 burglaries, 585 thefts, 36 car thefts and one arson.
