Peyrolles-en-Provence

Peyrolles -en- Provence is a commune with 4717 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Bouches -du -Rhône Provence -Alpes- Côte d' Azur region.

Geography

The community is located 20 kilometers away from the Aix -en- Provence and 30 kilometers away Manosque. Neighboring municipalities are Jouques, Pertuis, Meyrargues and Saint -Paul- lès -Durance. The municipality is part of the Communauté d' agglomération du Pays d' Aix. Peyrolles -en- Provence is situated on the Durance.

History

In the 12th century a small castle was built. It belonged to the 15th and 17th century the French king. In the 17th century it was a new owner of its present appearance. The castle eventually went over to the community, who settled the Mairie and various schools here.
