Pine Ridge is a census -designated place (CDP ) in Citrus County in the U.S. state of Florida with 9,598 inhabitants ( 2010).

Geography

Pine Ridge is affected by U.S. Highway 41. The CDP is located around 15 km north- west of Inverness and about 120 km north of Tampa.

Demographics

According to the 2010 census, the then 9,598 inhabitants distributed to 4,881 households. The population density was 146.8 inh. / Km ². 91.1 % of the population were white, 4.2% African American, 0.2% Native American and 2.3% Asian Americans. 0.7 % were members of other ethnic groups and 1.5 % of various ethnicities. 5.7% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.

In 2010, children under the age of 18 and 56.1 % of all households lived in 17.1 % of all households with persons at least 65 years. 72.6 % of households were family households (consisting of married couples with or without offspring or a parent with offspring ). The average size of a household was 2.20 persons and the average family size is 2.53 people.

15.3% of the population were younger than 20 years, 10.1% were 20-39 years old, 24.7% were 40-59 years old and 50.0 % were at least 60 years old. The median age was 60 years. 47.9 % of the population were male and 52.1% female.

The average annual income was $ 53,421, while 11.4 % of the population lived below the poverty line.

In 2000, English was the mother tongue of 94.91 % of the population spoke German 2.59% and 2.50 % had a different mother tongue.
