Quebec Major Junior Hockey League

The Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec (short: LHJMQ, Eng Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, short QMJHL. ), Is one of Canada's three top junior leagues which constitute the Canadian Hockey League. It is native to the province of Quebec, but also hosts teams from the Maritimes.

Organization

In addition to the Ligue de hockey junior majeur du Québec exist in the Canadian Hockey League, the OHL and WHL the. Because of their cumbersome name it is often called The Q. The league, which includes a total of 2011/12 season 17 teams will be played in three divisions with five or six teams. For the season 2012/13 to be included in the LHJMQ with the Phoenix de Sherbrooke another franchise.

In the LHJMQ only players 15 to 20 years are allowed to play. However, each team has the opportunity to use three players who are already at the season opener 20 years old. These are called " Overage " juniors.
