Geography
Geographical Location
Roehrnbach lies in the Danube- forest in the southern Bavarian Forest. The market is located on the B 12, approximately 22 km north of Passau, 8 km west of Forest churches, 12 km south of Freyung, 30 km from the border with the Czech Republic ( in Philippsreut ) and 28 kilometers from the National Highway 3 (exit Aicha vorm Forest) away.

Special
Local attractions include the town center with its marketplace and historic town houses. The community serves as a backdrop in the television series House Sokolov forest where the village is, however, called Küblach.
The really rather harsh climate of the Bavarian Forest meets Roehrnbach only partly, as it is located less than 500 meters in a sheltered valley.
History
The 1170 first mentioned Roehrnbach was on the mountain Reichensteiner branch of the Gold Trail. Since in this case met the golden gate on the Klafferstraße, Röhnrbach had especially in the 16th century importance as a trading center. The 1612 market raised location of the Prince-Bishopric of Passau ( the degree of self- rights enjoyed ) had to complain in 1649 about 600 victims of the plague.
The market town was secularized in 1803 with the largest part of the territory in favor hochstiftischen Archduke Ferdinand of Tuscany and fell until 1805 in Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.
In the last days of the war 42 homes were destroyed in Roehrnbach, to 36 farmer property in the surrounding villages. Rapid growth of the place, as a new craft branch came the glass finishing in the market from the reconstruction was out.
In 1983, a new community center was built. In 1984 the bypass was built.
Incorporations
Parts of the formerly independent communities Wilhelmsreut and Oberndorf were incorporated on 1 April 1971. The former municipality Außernbrünst was added on 1 January 1976. On 1 May 1978, a part of the former municipality Kumreut was affiliated. On 1 March 1979 an area of the district town Freyung was added with approximately 500 inhabitants.

The municipal tax revenue amounted to the equivalent of € 2,216,000 in 1999, which amounted to the trade tax revenues ( net) converted € 812,000.
Culture and sights
The late Baroque parish church of St. Michael was built from 1746 to 1750 on the tower walls of a late Gothic building. 1970/71 the three-nave vault was expanded.

It was in 1998 according to official statistics in the field of Agriculture and Forestry 28, in the manufacturing industry in 1340, and in trade and transport 140 persons work at the workplace. Traffic
Roehrnbach is connected with the national highway 12 from Passau to Freyung / boarder Philippsreut to the higher local road network.
Since 1890, existed in Roehrnbach a railway station on the so-called Ilztalbahn from Passau to Freyung. In 1982, the regular passenger services were set. Until August 2002, this route sailed yet freight trains and special trains. Since then, this route was not passable by flood damage. From August 2009 to July 2011, the railway line was supported by the Ilztalbahn GmbH from the Patrons Ilztalbahn eV again made passable. On 16 July 2011, the rail traffic was included as part of the leisure traffic project Danube - Vltava again throughout the year on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays during the summer months and special trips.
