Geographical Location

Roehrnbach lies in the Danube- forest in the southern Bavarian Forest. The market is located on the B 12, approximately 22 km north of Passau, 8 km west of Forest churches, 12 km south of Freyung, 30 km from the border with the Czech Republic ( in Philippsreut ) and 28 kilometers from the National Highway 3 (exit Aicha vorm Forest) away.

Special

Local attractions include the town center with its marketplace and historic town houses. The community serves as a backdrop in the television series House Sokolov forest where the village is, however, called Küblach.

The really rather harsh climate of the Bavarian Forest meets Roehrnbach only partly, as it is located less than 500 meters in a sheltered valley.

History

The 1170 first mentioned Roehrnbach was on the mountain Reichensteiner branch of the Gold Trail. Since in this case met the golden gate on the Klafferstraße, Röhnrbach had especially in the 16th century importance as a trading center. The 1612 market raised location of the Prince-Bishopric of Passau ( the degree of self- rights enjoyed ) had to complain in 1649 about 600 victims of the plague.
