The village Hutthurm can trace its history back to the Middle Ages. The old market, which was first mentioned in the 11th century, owes its origin and its early onset of economic prosperity to the Lords of Wotzmannsdorf.

The first written records back to 1075, the foundation charter of St. Nicholas, informs that the place was already at that time Hutthurm independent parish.

The old church burned down in 1750 and was rebuilt in the Baroque style of Passau artists again. The fortress- like aspect of the old tower " Hutthurmes " not far from the Golden Path was retained in its original form and is likely to have been built in this assumed form in 1483. Surviving are two bells from the years 1501 and 1520.

The office of the Prince-Bishopric of Passau was secularized with the largest part of the hochstiftischen area in 1803 in favor of Ferdinand of Tuscany and fell until the peace treaties of Brno and Bratislava in 1805 Bavaria. In the course of administrative reform in Bavaria, was born with the congregation of 1818, the current community.

In recent years, the market town Hutthurm was able to achieve an upward trend and thus structural improvement in many areas, so that the formerly almost exclusively agriculturally oriented community has developed into one economic, administrative, educational and transportation center.
