Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Quebec

The Archdiocese of Québec ( Latin: Archidioecesis Quebecensis ) in Canada is the oldest Roman Catholic Diocese of New World north of Mexico. It was founded in 1658 as the Apostolic Vicariate of New France, in 1674 to the diocese in 1819 and elevated to archdiocese.

The diocese lost large parts of its territory by the establishment of dioceses Halifax and Kingston in 1817, Winnipeg in 1844, Montreal in 1852 and Chicoutimi in 1878.

The Archbishop of Quebec has the title " Primate of Canada ." Cathedral is Notre- Dame de Quebec in Quebec City.
