Santena

Santena ( Santna Piedmontese ) is a municipality with 10,808 inhabitants (as of 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Turin (TO ), Region Piedmont.

The municipality consists of the villages Tatty Busso, Tatty Giro, Luserna and Gamenario. The neighboring municipalities are Chieri, Cambiano, Trofarello, Poirino and Villastellone. The patron saint of the place is San Lorenzo.

Geography

The village lies at an altitude of 237 m above sea level. The municipality covers an area of ​​16.21 km ².

History

The existence of the town in Roman times is occupied by ancient finds. The earliest finds date to the year 150 AD, but most likely the settlement began earlier, in the first century AD, the time of Emperor Augustus.

Culture and Festivals

  • In May there will be a regular Asparagus Festival.
  • On August 10, the feast day of the local saint, a city festival takes place.
