Serbian SuperLiga

The Super League (Serbian Cyrillic: Суперлига, German: Superleague ) is the top division in the Serbian football. It was formed with the 2006/07 season after the dissolution of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro. Prior to the first league of Serbia and Montenegro was the highest league. The main sponsor is the Apatin Brewery, after their most famous beer, which officially Jelen Superliga called Jelen beer league.

Serbian club played previously in the leagues of the Kingdom of Serbia and the Yugoslav first league, which was founded in 1923 and lasted until 2003. After the dissolution of Yugoslavia in 1992, a new Yugoslavia was established, which consisted of the Republics of Serbia and Montenegro. Game system

Since the formation of the Super League, the game system changed several times. In the seasons 2007/ 08 and 2008/ 09 was played in two parts. After completion of the 2007/08 season the last two teams went directly from the Prva Liga, while the tenth- placed team played a qualification game against third-placed from the Prva Liga. As the transition from the previous system to the new 16-team, rose after the 2008/ 09 season from only the last placed, while the teams have risen to the first five places in the Prva League in the Super League. The master of the Super League will start qualifying for the UEFA Champions League in the second round. The teams in second and third place start the qualification for the Europa League in the second round of the national cup winner in the third.

Unlike Germany, a maximum of 25 players must be licensed for the season to start and the winter break. Players that go beyond this squad size, can not participate in the game mode. In addition, two Under-21 players may be added to the extended squad.

History

Master

Yugoslav League (1923-1940)

Foreigners in the Super League
