Serra San Quirico

Serra San Quirico is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2946 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Ancona in the Marche. The municipality is situated approximately 44 km west-southwest of Ancona on esino. Serra San Quirico is part of the Comunità montana dell'Esino Frasassi and borders the province of Macerata. A part of the municipal district is Parco della Gola della Rossa naturale regional Frassassi.

History

The settlement is probably of Etruscan origin. 950 the settlement was destroyed. From the 12th century the Church began with the attachment state of the place. Since the 17th century the village has the status of a municipality.

Traffic

Through the community, the Strada Statale 76 della Val d' esino runs from Ancona to Perugia. The train station of Serra San Quirico is on the railway line from Rome to Ancona.
