Société Parisienne

The Société Parisienne E. Couturier et Cie was a French manufacturer of bicycles and automobiles.

Company History

M. Renard founded in 1876 in Paris, the company for the production of bicycles. It seems that has already experimented around 1894 with a compressed air car; such was reported with the number 52 for the Paris- Rouen in 1894, but did not appear at the start. 1899 began the construction of small cars. The brand name was Parisienne. 1903 production ended.

Rolling stock

The first models named Victoria Combination were equipped with built-in motors of Aster or De Dion -Bouton. The special feature of the vehicles were front-wheel drive and steering, as the entire front of the car was driven. About 400 copies were produced until 1901.

Beginning in 1901, conventional vehicles emerged. The models had a motor of Aster, who was placed in the bow and by means of a cardan shaft drive the rear wheels. The choice was between motors with 5 hp and 6.5 hp. The body shapes Duc - Duc and Spider - Tonneau could accommodate two or four people.

Vehicles of this brand can be seen in the Musée Automobile de Vendée in Talmont -Saint -Hilaire and the Technical Museum in Stockholm.
