Société des Automobiles Pilain (SAP)

The Société des Automobiles Pilain, sometimes abbreviated as SAP, was a French manufacturer of automobiles.

Company History

Pilain François (1859-1924), who was previously at Serpollet and La Buire worked, operational from 1893 to 1897 his own company, Société François Pilain and then worked for Vermorel, founded in 1901 in Lyon, the company and began the construction of automobiles. The brand name was Pilain. In the period 1906-1907 a day was about a chassis. 1908, the company went into liquidation. François Pilain had to go, and Mr. de Villeneuve became the new director. During the First World War emerged trucks for Hotchkiss et Cie. The Société Lyonnaise de l'Industrie Mécanique et Pilain cars took over the company in 1920 and produced until 1929 under the name SLIM automobiles.

Rolling stock

Initially developed models with two-cylinder and four-cylinder engines. 1904 ended the production of the two-cylinder models. 1906 was the offer of models with 4000 cc and 8600 cc capacity. 1909, a model with 1900 cc to 1912 and a six-cylinder model of 2400 cc. 1913 covered the span of the displacements of 1000 cc to 6300 cc. The vehicles were built -consuming and therefore very expensive.
