Jean Gras

The SA des Automobiles Jean grass was a French manufacturer of automobiles.

Company History

Jean grass founded in 1924, the company for the production of automobiles. The location was the former factory of Philos in Lyon. In the same year, the first vehicles were presented at the Paris Motor Show. The brand name was Jean grass. 1930 production ended. A total of about 200 vehicles emerged.

Rolling stock

The Type A had a four-cylinder engine of CIME with OHC valve timing and 1494 cc capacity. The Type B also had a four-cylinder engine of CIME, but with OHV valve timing and 1200 cc capacity. These models had a conventional chassis and had four-wheel brakes by Perrot. The most common body shape was a sedan with six side windows, but were also a Coupe de Ville and a touring car in the range. The vehicles were also used in auto racing.

1926 or 1927 was followed by a model with a six cylinder engine with OHV valve timing and 1557 cc capacity. This model had a lower frame. The production of the six-cylinder models was held in Dijon in the branch plant Construction Électriques et Mécaniques.

A car of this brand is on display at the Musée Henri Malartre in Rochetaillée -sur -Saône.
