Stars and Stripes Vol. 1

Stars and Stripes Vol 1 is an album have been added to the songs of the Beach Boys from 1962 to 1968 Country artists. The album was released in 1996.

The album

In 1995, Melinda Wilson had the idea for a duet of your husband Brian Wilson with Willie Nelson. You should publish the Beach Boys song "The Warmth of the Sun" in a country style. Mike Love heard of the planned project and made ​​the suggestion that the Beach Boys should be here for, together with Nelson. Soon the idea was born to create an entire album with other country singers. As a producer for this body of work Brian Wilson and the Country musician Joe Thomas were selected.

There were selected 12 songs that were recorded by various country stars in their own style. The Beach Boys were here represented only in the background vocals and were more or less guests on her own album. In addition to the 12 songs, a version of "In my room " by Tammy Wynette and Brian Wilson was taken, which, however, did not appear on the album. It was saved for a possible follow- album and finally released in 1998 on the album Tammy Wynette Remembered.

The album and some uncoupled singles reached places in the U.S. country charts. The singles were Do not Worry Baby ( number 73 ), Long Tall Texan ( No. 69 ) and Little Deuce Coupe ( No. 69 ). I Can Hear Music reached number # 16 of the adult contemporary charts.

The album reached number # 101 of the U.S. Billboard charts and reached a pleasant 16 Place in the Country Albums charts. However, since it remained far behind the expected sales, the planned further albums were soon forgotten.
