Sudwalde

Sudwalde ( Low German: Suwohle ) is a municipality in the district of Diepholz in Lower Saxony. It belongs to Samtgemeinde Schwaförden.

Geography

Sudwalde is at the southeastern edge of the Natural Park Geest, approximately in the middle between Bremen and Minden. The municipality, located in the headwaters of Hache, belongs to the Samtgemeinde Schwaförden, which has its headquarters in the town of Schwaförden.

History

Incorporations

On March 1, 1974, the previously independent municipalities Bensen and Menninghausen were incorporated.

Population Development

The population Schwafördens amounts since 2000 around 1100 people and is up to 2011 dropped to 1,060 inhabitants.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms of the municipality Sudwalde is decorated in the colors green and silver. It shows in the upper shield member a green oak leaf with three green acorns as a sign of the wood court Sudwalde Suit wood. In the lower part is the coat of arms of the county changed confess (old) break Hausen, a shifted cross represented.

Culture, attractions and infrastructure

Structures

  • The evangelical church to Sudwalde, an early Gothic hall church, comes in its oldest parts dating from the 13th century.
  • Today's Heuerling house was built in 1766. 1905, the family bought the building as a tenant Stubbe man house. 1968 bought dentist Hans- Ulrich Raschdorf the neighboring property and use it in particular for his horses. As the now Grade II listed house was to be sold in 1990, it was bought by the municipality. It is since 2001 used for the village community as Heuerling House ( club rooms and guest rooms).

Nature Reserves

In Sudwalde is the third oldest nature reserve in Lower Saxony, the Pastorendiek ( 1926).
