History

Gothenburg - Grums

At the beginning of the planning of the E45 was the focus that a link must be established that leads centrally through northern Sweden, as it previously was not running in a north-south direction highway there. Since there were no ferries or similar, it was difficult for the travelers who cross many rivers in northern Sweden. The only previously existing connections were lying near the coast E 4 or led along the rivers.

An example of this is the section between Gothenburg and Lilla Edet, which lies along a riverside lying, built in the 1860s route. In the course until after Vänersborg the route follows a somewhat different course, not directly on the Göta älv along. At that time there were only one bridge in Gothenburg and Vänersborg across the river.

Many sections of the Europaväg 45 were completely new. The section between Gothenburg and Agnesberg in 1968 and opened to traffic. The route between Agnesberg and Lilla Edet was first planned east of Surte, was but then realized in the West and finished in conjunction with the section until after Trollhättan in the early 1960s. The passage north of Trollhattan has been released along with the Stallbackabron 1981. This was followed in 1991, the route to Vanersborg. Between 1950 and 1970, the sections between Vanersborg and Frändefors, Mellerud and Amal, and between Amal and Saffle had been completed previously. The other section of highway until after Grums finally followed in the 1990s.

Grums - Mora

The route Vålberg - Fagerås was completed in 1970 and 1990 years, the route Fagerås - however, Sunne is still from the 1940 's, but since the 1880s, when the track first appeared in the books have been modernized. The road between Sunne Torsby and was rebuilt in the 1970s. Previously, she ran to the east of Övre Fryken.

In the 1920s and 1930s, the route was Torsby - Järnbergsåsen built and released to traffic. Klarälven been opened - Long before was already in the 1910s the section Järnbergsåsen. The section but was modernized again later, and the descent to the Klarälven which was supplemented in the 1980s, along with the bridge south of Stöllet. Between Stöllet and Malung the road runs almost identical to the opened in the 1910s route, with the exception of straightened in the 2000s curves. The distance between Malung and Öje was renewed in the 1970s, but also runs largely identical to the track which was built in the 1910s there, partly along a disused railway line. Also the distance from the 1910s follows the section Öje - Siljansfors; However, the section was completely removed. The section between Siljansfors - Mora was built in the 1960s.

Endlang the sections are many milestones to be found, suggesting that there also existed a trade route before the 19th century.

Mora - Ostersund

The section between Mora and Orsa was built in stages between 1950 and 1980, between Orsa and Fågelsjö follows the course of an already built in the 1940s road. The section but was modernized again later and completed the bridges over the railroads.

Already in the 1920s a road between Sveg and Brunflo was built, but later some curves were in the 1960s still straightened, so that the road was something falls asleep. The route between Sveg - Älvros was released in the 1950s for traffic.

Ostersund - Finnish border

In 1900 there was a road between Östersund and Dorotea. But Dorotea and further north there was no road at all. In the period 1910-1950 this route was built.
