Churning was the most important entertainment show of the 1970s on German television. She followed the Rudi Carrell Show, and was also presented by Rudi Carrell.

Prehistory

Carrell liked the extremely successful show on Dutch television En van der Eight from the start extremely well. That's why he Hans-Joachim Kulenkampff had proposed to obtain the tapes to present a German license issue. This however was interested in not sure.

As Carrell was his Rudi Carrell Show as outdated in the fall of 1973, he planned himself to take on a German license issue. He saw that there is no way in a game with candidates led past. Furthermore, he did not like quiz shows, which is why he thought of it, to evaluate the creativity of candidates. And this is what made ​​the Dutch show.

With a shortened version of When will it finally had summer Carrell opened the show twice, once when the title came out and then again when rainy weather gave rise to it.

The match took place with eight candidates. It was four pairs, with the special feature was that it had to be relatives from different generations, such as mother and son or grandmother and granddaughter. Three rounds were used to determine the winner. In the first two rounds of two pairs played against each other in the third round, a winner was determined from the two winning pairs.

The first two rounds consisted of three games, the first was always a recognition game. The third round consisted first of two games, which spawned a pair as the winner. Who then winner of the evening was of the two, decided three questions about the bulletins which were presented by a celebrity guest. In the first edition it was Karl -Heinz Köpcke, who had spoken before the evening news broadcast and was then rushed to Bremen to the studio. The candidates had in common seen to the news.

Special Events

Carrell did Muhammad Ali for a great entertainer and had been trying for some time to fit it in some form on his show. In episode 20 it succeeded spectacularly. Eén van de Eight ran from 1969 to 1973 at the VARA.
