The Rolling Stones No. 2 is the second published in the UK studio album by the Rolling Stones. It was released on January 15, 1965 by Decca Records in the UK and shortly afterwards in Germany. A publication in the U.S. remained on the LP The Rolling Stones, Now published in the U.S. on February 13, 1965! However, there were seven songs from The Rolling Stones No. 2 included.

The Rolling Stones No. 2 followed the proven concept of The Rolling Stones, the highly successful debut album from 1964. The song material consists of nine rhythm-and - blues cover versions as well as three original compositions, which has the potential, the ambitions and the now gained self-confidence of the young songwriter duo Mick Jagger and Keith Richards show.

The twelve tracks of very coherent and stylistically closed album were recorded in the Regent Sound Studios in London, in the Chess Studios in Chicago and RCA Studios in Hollywood on June 10 to November 2, 1964.

On the front of the cover, the five members of the Rolling Stones are pictured (back, left to right, Mick Jagger, Charlie Watts and Brian Jones, Bill Wyman in the foreground and Keith Richards ). On the back of the five are shown again separately in simple black -and-white photos. The cover photos were taken by British photographer David Bailey, a friend Jaggers; the text on the back of the album written by Andrew Loog Oldham. As with the previous album, neither the band name nor the album title are displayed on the front cover - a at that time totally new and unusual idea of Andrew Loog Oldham band manager.

Like the debut album reached No. The Rolling Stones. 2 No. 1 on the British LP charts, where it was able to keep 37 weeks long. In Germany it was the first album of the band that could occupy the first place on the LP charts.
