Thomas Kean

Thomas Howard Kean (* April 21, 1935 in New York City ) is an American politician. He was from 1982 until 1990 the Governor of the State of New Jersey.

Family

Thomas Kean comes from a prominent political family. His father was Robert Kean 1939-1958 Member of the House of Representatives of the United States, his grandfather Hamilton Fish Kean belonged from 1929 to 1934 the U.S. Senate. His great-uncle John Kean was 1883-1910, with interruptions deputy and senator in Congress. Another great uncle, Hamilton Fish, was a U.S. Senator, Governor of New York and under President Ulysses S. Early years and political rise

Thomas Kean attended St. Mark's School in Southborough, Massachusetts. He then studied at Princeton University and Columbia University. Kean was a member of the National Guard of New Jersey. He also taught American history as well as English and launched a home for disabled children. At Rutgers University, where he gave lectures on political science.
