Tomáš Berdych

Tomáš Berdych? / I ( born September 17, 1985 in Valašské Meziříčí, then Czechoslovakia ) is a Czech tennis player.

Career

At the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 Berdych won in the second round against the surprising set to number one Swiss Roger Federer, but retired in the latter part of. The first big success came in 2005 Berdych at the indoor tournament in Paris, when he defeated Ivan Ljubičić in the final of the Croats in five sets. 2006 reached Berdych at the French Open, the Wimbledon Championships and the U.S. Open each of the first knockout round and the finals of the tournament in Halle.

He also reached the final in Bastad ( 4:6 - 1:6 - defeat against Tommy Robredo ) and later in the season in Bangkok, the semi-finals ( 5:7, 1:6 against Novak Djokovic ). The highlight of the season was for him in 2008 but undoubtedly win the tournament in Tokyo, as he celebrated the Newcomer of the Year, Juan Martín del Potro, to defeat with 6:1, 6:4 and his fourth title on the ATP Tour. On the way to the final, he eliminated the top player Tommy Robredo, Fernando González, Andy Roddick. Berdych defeated in 2009 at the Australian Open Robby Ginepri, Brian Dabul and better Stanislas Wawrinka set. In his second round match, he moved despite a 2-0 set lead against eventual finalists Federer still lose out.

Berdych returned the favor in 2010 in the quarterfinals of Wimbledon, where he could beat Federer in four sets. He moved into the semi-finals, where he defeated Djokovic smooth in three sets. In the first Grand Slam final of his career he was defeated Nadal then smooth in three sets.

At the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London Berdych started in singles and doubles for the Czech Republic. In individual he already retired on the opening round against the Belgian Steve Darcis. In doubles, he was standing with Radek Stepanek in the first round against the Italians Daniele Bracciali and Andreas Seppi in three sets, before the Brazilians Marcelo Melo and Bruno Soares nearly documents in the second round with 6:1, 4:6 and 22:24. At the U.S. Open Berdych scored his highlight of the season with a victory in four sets over Roger Federer. In the semifinals, he lost to Andy Murray.

Davis Cup

Since 2003, Berdych plays for the Czech Davis Cup team. Only David Ferrer, he was defeated with 0:3 smooth. In the following season, the Czech team successfully defended the title. In the final they defeated Serbia 3-2. Berdych defeated Novak Djokovic doing without set win, while he defeated Dusan Lajovic 6:3, 6:4 and 6:3. The double game Berdych and Radek Stepanek decided clearly with 6:2, 6:4 and 7:64 against Nenad Zimonjic and Ilija Bozoljac for themselves.

Tomáš Berdych is in a relationship with the Czech model Ester Sátorová. According to ATP he is domiciled in Monaco. Previously lived and trained Berdych of the Czech Prostějov.
