Uzenice

Uzenice ( German Usenitz, formerly United Usenitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers northeast of Blatná in South Bohemia and belongs to Okres Strakonice.

Geography

Uzenice is located on the left side of the creek Uzenicky creek on a west slope in the hill country Blatenská pahorkatina. To the north rises the Chlumák ( 548 m), to the east the Vrse (520 m ) south of the Na Červenkách (500 m) and in the northwest the Křikava (520 m). To the south lies the pond Labuť.

Neighboring towns are Uzenicky, Drahenice and Drahenicky in the north, Svučice, Mišovice, Minice and Pohoří in the northeast, Ostrov and Svodbodka in the east, Chrást, Výšice and Kožlí the southeast, Nevželice, Myštice, Laciná, Dvořetice and Vahlovice in the south, Střížovice, Újezd Skaličan and Chobot in the Southwest, U Frička and Černívsko in the west and Žebrák and Hostišovice in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of Uzenice took place in 1227 as a possession of the monastery of St. George at Prague Castle. Later the estate was initially pledged to the dominions Fraunberg and Klingenberg, before it acquired the Lords of Křikava and joined to the rule Křikava. After the destruction of the castle Křikava Tasek acquired from Drahenice the end of the 15th century, its possessions and beat them to his good Teutsch - Usenitz to. Around 1520 acquired Zdeniek Lev of Rosental this good and joined it to the reign Blatná.
