Venaus

Venaus ( Piedmontese VENAUS, Franco-Provençal Veno, French Vénaux ) is a municipality with 956 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the Italian province of Turin (TO ), Region Piedmont. It is part of Susa Valley.

Venaus is a member of the mountain commune Comunità Montana Bassa Valle di Susa and Val Cenischia. The municipality comprises the villages of Bar Cenisio, Molaretto and Venaus. The neighboring municipalities are Bramans (Savoie in France), Giaglione, Lanslebourg -Mont- Cenis (Savoie), Mompantero, Mont Cenis and Novalesa.

Culture

During the festival of the patron saint St. Blaise, we celebrate the traditional sword dance. Four men in hats dancing established by tradition with swords with flowery movements.

Geography

The village lies at an altitude of 604 m above sea level. The municipality covers an area of 19.8 km ².
