Vitaly Viktorovich Vishnevsky (Russian Виталий Викторович Вишневский, Ukrainian Віталій Вікторович Вишневський / Vitaly Wiktorowytsch Wyschnewskyj; born March 18, 1980 in Kharkiv, Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian ice hockey player with a Russian passport, which is since the 2012/13 season with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl under contract.

Career

Vitaly Vishnevsky began his career as a hockey player with Torpedo Yaroslavl, for which he was active from 1995 to 1999. During this period, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1998 as the fifth player overall by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim.

For the Ducks, he was employed until 2004 regularly in the National Hockey League and was defeated in the 2002/03 season until the finals for the Stanley Cup the New Jersey Devils. During the lockout in the 2004/ 05 NHL season Vishnevsky went back to Russia to play for Moskovskaya Oblast Chimik in the Super League. After the end of the lockout of the links Sagittarius ran back to the Mighty Ducks, but was transferred shortly before the start of the next season to the Atlanta Thrashers. But for Atlanta he did not even played a full season since he was released to their league rival Nashville Predators on February 10 in exchange for Éric Bélanger.

In summer 2007, he signed a contract with the New Jersey Devils, for whom he scored seven points scorer in 69 games. For the season 2008/ 09, the Russian national team returned to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, for a total of 72 games, he scored 30 points scorer in the Kontinental Hockey League newly established. With his team he reached the finals of the Russian Cup, but failed in Yaroslavl in the best- of-seven series with almost 3:4 victories at Ak Bars Kazan. For the 2010/11 season Vishnevsky signed with SKA St. Petersburg, for whom he played until 2012 and over 128 KHL games completed.

In May 2012, he returned once more back to Lokomotiv Yaroslavl.
