Vögelsen is a municipality in the district of Lüneburg, in Lower Saxony ( Germany ). The municipality belongs to the Vögelsen Samtgemeinde Bardowick. To Vögelsen includes the direction Covered Missen located New Vögelsen.

Geography
Geographical Location
The place is located 5 km northwest of Luneburg south of the Federal Highway 39 between Lueneburg, Reppenstedt, Covered Missen, Mechtersen and Bardowick. Vögelsen forms with the places Reppenstedt, Adendorf and Bardowick and evern German and Wendish evern a densely populated area around the core city of Lüneburg with a total of approximately 30,000 inhabitants.
History
The first mention of Vögelsen dated 21 May 1158, by a deed from Verden. In the document, the tax liability to the pin Bardowick has been set. In the Middle Ages Vögelsen is also mentioned under the name Vogelsen, Voghelsen and Voglissen in old documents.
Vögelsen was originally a small farming village in its core still notice old oak stands. Here are still the 8 farms, from which came Vögelsen. Distinctive symbol of the unique name " Vögelsen " should be the crested larks. This local bird is widespread here.

Natural Monuments
The direction of Lüneburg -looking part of Vögelsen is separated from the cultural monument Old Lüneburg Landwehr, a rampart from the 14th century, the historical part of Vögelsen. A special impression on the structure and the size of the system provides the wooded section between Reppenstedt and Vögelsen. An unpaved forest road makes it possible to hike the entire route.

Traffic
Vögelsen lies on the road from Wick to Bardo Kirchgellersen. Public transport is provided by the HVV the bus lines 5002, 5009 and 5404. The line 5002 runs from Monday to Friday, 8:38 to 17:48, operates hourly between the Kiefernweg, Bardowick, the ZOB in Lüneburg, line 5009 typically every hour; in rush hours every half an hour, the line 5404 to the peak hours of the school start and school closure. Vögelsen was on the railway line Wittenberg -Buchholz.
