Vratna

Vratna (Cyrillic: Вратна ) is a village in the Opština Negotin in Okrug boron in eastern Serbia.

Geography

Vratna is located in eastern Serbia, on the eastern slope of the ridge of Veliki Greben, the part of the southwestern foothills of the Carpathians. There also arises the river Vratna, which flows through the town and about 15 km to the east flows into the Danube.

Culture

Monastery Vratna

The Orthodox monastery Vratna ( Manastir Vratna ) is located about forty kilometers from Negotin, near the eponymous village Vratna. The monastery was built in the 14th century, and significantly expanded in 1415. The monastery itself superimposed an inscription of the Voivode Sârban of Bucharest. 1813 was set on fire and almost completely burned down. 1817, the building was rebuilt. Today the monastery, which is dedicated to the Spasovdan, a pure nunnery.
