Wartburg (car)

Wartburg was the trading name of 1956 to April 14, 1991 at VEB automobile plant in Eisenach manufactured passenger car series in the manufacturer's IFA. The name is derived from the castle of the same at the production site Eisenach. Production sites

The frames were delivered without a chassis number in the individual works. Major customers included Hungary and Poland. The Wartburg 311 sold in the non-socialist economic region well. That changed during the 1960s, and early 1970s was the Wartburg become almost unsaleable because of its two-stroke engine in the West, few Western countries such as Finland imported him at that time. Became known for the export of up to 1215 pieces of type 311 in the U.S. in 1960, for which there were also advertisements in Playboy.
