Wiegendorf

Wiegendorf is a municipality in the southern part of the Weimar area and part of the joint management Mellingen. Districts are Wiegendorf and Schwab village.

Geography

Weigh village lies on the beginning of the valley of the cradle villages stream that leaves the place in a northeasterly direction. The village is one kilometer south 87 from the B and surrounded by a farming area.

History

History of the place Wiegendorf

The first mention of the town was made in 1216 in a document of Viscount Dietrich von Kirchberg. Simultaneously, a noble family of Wiegendorf was mentioned. In the Thirty Years' War, the village was largely destroyed. Its location on a trade route an inn was built in the 18th century. From the beginning of the 19th century the city was part of the Grand Duchy of Saxe -Weimar- Eisenach and after 1945 with the State of Thuringia part of the Soviet occupation zone and the GDR. Since 1990, the city is part of the newly established state of Thuringia.

History of the site Schwab village

Schwab village was first mentioned in 1136 as " Swavestorpe ". The main livelihood of the population formed the agriculture. In the 15th century, viticulture can be detected. On 1 April 1974 Schwab village was a suburb of Wiegendorf.
