Rannstedt

Rannstedt is a municipality in the northeast of the county Weimar area. Fulfilling community is Bad Sulza.

Location

Rannstedt is right on the main road 87 about five miles off Eckartsberga just before the border with Saxony -Anhalt in an arable area around Apolda.

History

The village was first mentioned between 822-842.

In the years 1446-1451 the town was destroyed in the Saxon Brother War. 1497 were mentioned in 20 households in the country control register 47 adult inhabitants. A large fire in 1712 destroyed large parts of the town, in 1735 there were 37 houses next to the church, a school, a post office and a guest house with brewery and bakehouse.

The church, built in 1716 was thoroughly restored in 1994, rebuilt the church tower.

In 1990, the port Rannstedts to the telephone network, in 1908 followed electric current, in 1969 a central water supply and natural gas supply in 1995.
