Geography

Geographical Location

Zeilarn lies in the region Landshut in typical Lower Bavarian hills directly on the B 20 is about 14 km southeast of Eggenfelden, 18 km north-east Altöttings, 20 km north of Burghausen, 17 km north-west of Simbach and 20 km south-west of the county town parish churches. The nearest railway station serving the Mühldorf - Braunau is located in Marktl 9 km away.

History

Zeilarn was first documented as Cidlar already 788 in the nomenclature of goods of the Archdiocese of Salzburg. Later, the town belonged to the county of Leonberg, 1319 after their extinction was inherited by the Counts of neck the property. Until the administrative reform in Bavaria in 1818 it belonged to Rentamt Landshut and the district court Eggenfelden. Then according to the second Gemeindeedikt emerged the top communities Turks Gumpersdorf and shield Thurn.

Incorporations

The church today Zeilarn is the result of local government reform in Bavaria with the merger of the municipalities upper Turks Gumpersdorf Thurn and shield on 1 April 1971.

Attractions

  • Sanctuary shield Thurn
  • The late-Gothic parish church of St. Martin was enlarged in 1888. It has a neo-Gothic interior with some gothic and baroque figures and grave stones.
