Inventory of Swiss Heritage Sites
The Federal Inventory of estimable sites of national significance in Switzerland ( short ISOS ) is a Switzerland covering the entire inventory on behalf of the Federal Office of Culture. It is based on the Federal Law of 1 July 1966 on the Nature and Cultural Heritage (NCHA SR 451) and is taken into account at the cantonal level in spatial planning.
The ISOS distinguishes between local images of local, regional and national significance, the actual federal inventory includes only sites of national significance. As a guiding principle in the selection and evaluation is considered, quoted by the ISOS website: " A place is determined by the ratio of the buildings to each other, but also by the ratio to what surrounds him to the woods and meadows, to the landscape. "
The detailed inventory is broken down by cantons, published in book form. As of 2008, the volumes of 13 cantons are available. The ISOS website presents a list of sites of national importance and provides a monthly spot in detail before ( book excerpt as a PDF).
Since February 2012, the inventory is available to the public in the form of a spot inventory in the geoportal of the federal administration, see section links.
