1927 World Snooker Championship

The Snooker World Championship 1927 took place at various venues between November 29, 1926 and May 12, 1927. The final was played in the Camkins Hall in Birmingham, England. The very first game of this, and a snooker World Cup ever, was fought between Melbourne Inman and Tom Newman from November 29 to December 6, 1926 in Thurston 's Hall at Leicester Square in London.

Organizer was still the Billiards Association and Control Council ( BACC ).

It is regarded as the first officially discharged World Cup in the history of snooker sport. Was organized by the World Cup by Bill Camkin and the eventual tournament winner Joe Davis. This track he should not leave until 1946. The field consisted of 10 players.

Purse

The tournament entry cost each player 5 guinea. This sum has been exposed to half as prize money from the other half of the BACC bought the trophy to the value of £ 19. The winner received the sum of six pounds and 10 shillings ( and purchased his own cup ).
