2008 Super 14 season

The 2008 season was the third edition of Super 14 rugby union competition with 14 franchise teams from Australia, New Zealand and South Africa ( from 1996 to 2005 was called the Super 12 competition ).

The season began on 15 February 2008 and ended with the final on 31 May 2008. A total of 94 matches were played, each team round-robin against the 13 other teams fought out. It was followed by two semi-finals and eventually the finals. Master was the seventh time the Crusaders from the New Zealand city of Christchurch.

The points are distributed as follows:

  • 4 points for a win
  • 2 points for a draw
  • 0 points for a loss (before possible bonus points )
  • 1 bonus point for four or more successful attempts, regardless of the Final
  • 1 bonus point for a loss by fewer than seven points difference
