2011 Global Champions Tour

The Global Champions Tour 2011 was the sixth season of the Global Champions Tour, an international tournament series in the show jumping. It applies in addition to the FEI Nations Cup as the most important tournament series in the "green season ".

The 2011 season was the fourth season as an officially recognized by the FEI tournament series. Organizer of the series is Jan Tops, Patroness Athina Onassis de Miranda was at first.

The end of the tournament series

The series ranged in 2011 from 17 March to 12 November and was previously the longest running Global Champions Tour season.

The tournaments will take place in the framework of the Global Champions Tour 2011, were the majority in Europe ( seven stations ). Beginning and end of the season were stages in the Arabian Peninsula, the penultimate tournament was held in South America. All of these tournaments were as CSI 5 *, the highest category in show jumping, advertised.

The special stages were played in on Saturday afternoon or evening. They were advertised as jumping competition with two different rounds and jump that obstacle height was up to 1.60 meters. These tests were each doped with at least € 285,000.

The tests

1st Test: Qatar

The Global Champions Tour tournament of Qatar took place from March 17 to March 19, 2011 at the Qatar Racing & Equestrian Club in Doha instead.

The special stage was 19 March 2011 from 18.45 clock, local time and was endowed with € 475,000. Course designer Frank Rothenberger was the German.

The second round reached 17 error-free rider and a rider who got a time penalty in the first round. The second round was much heavier and had according to the course builders almost Olympic standard. In this round four riders jumped clear what Denis Lynch but not moved into the jump-off due to the time error from the first round.

2nd test: Spain

The Global Champions Tour tournament in Spain was held from 6 May to 8 May 2011 on the forecourt of the Museu de les Ciències Príncipe Felipe in the Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias in Valencia.

The special stage was 7 May 2011 from 17.00 clock, local time and was endowed with € 285,000. Course designer Frank Rothenberger was again.

The second round reached 19 error-free riders and thus a rider more than originally planned. The second round was again significantly heavier. In this circulation remained five riders obstacle error free, but Denis Lynch had this time in the second round a time penalty point.

3rd test: Germany

The Global Champions Tour tournament in Germany, the German Jumping and Dressage Derby, was held until June 5, 2011 in Hamburg - Klein Flottbek on June 2.

4th test: France I

The first Global Champions Tour tournament in France this season took place from 9 June to 11 June 2011 at the Stade des Hesperides in Cannes.

In the first round four riders jumped free, one participant had only one time penalty point. 5th Test: Monaco

The Global Champions Tour tournament in Monaco was held from June 23 to June 25, 2011 on the banks of the Boulevard Albert 1er at Port Hercule instead.

The special stage was on June 25, 2011 from 18.00 clock, local time and was endowed with € 285,000. Course designer was for the fourth time this season, Frank Rothenberger.

The tournament was held in Monaco on a temporary backfill for the clay court event. This is due to the restricted space in Monaco quite small compared with the otherwise often very large squares in the green season. This yields for the rider a particular difficulty, distances and canters fall here correspondingly short.

The first round was overcome by 12 riders perfectly in the allotted time. The second round of testing presented itself much more difficult, only three riders remained with their horses without jumping and time faults. Prior to this, however, was only Rolf -Goran Bengtsson in the first round of error-free, so that the victory went to him without stinging. Almost missed Christian Ahlmann the double clear round, he was in the second round 95 hundredths of a second over the allotted time of 60 seconds and got this one time penalty point.

Honorary President of the tournament was Charlotte Casiraghi, daughter of Caroline of Hanover and even amateur show jumper. The congratulations at the presentation ceremony of the Global Champions Tour ranking were introduced by Prince Albert II.

6 Examination: Portugal

The Global Champions Tour tournament in Portugal took place from 30 June to 2 July 2011 at the Hipódromo Manuel Possolo in Cascais instead. Since the neighboring Estoril is advertised with a large advertising campaign as a sports tourism region, is usually called as a venue Estoril.

7 Examination: France II

France is so far the only state that discharges in the history of the Global Champions Tour two tournaments in one season. The second Global Champions Tour tournament in France will take place from July 22 to July 24, 2011 on the grounds of the racetrack on the outskirts of the castle of Chantilly instead. The stadium is named after Édouard de Rothschild, who promoted the construction of the place financially.

The special stage was conducted 23 July 2011 from 15.30 clock local time. She was endowed with € 285,000. Course designer Uliano Vezzani was the Italian.

8 test: Netherlands

The Global Champions Tour tournament of the Netherlands will take place from August 12 to August 14, 2011 at the home of the series founder Jan Tops in Valkenswaard instead.

The special stage was on 13 August 2011 from 14.15 clock, local time and was endowed with € 285,000. The Spring Parcoure this test were created as in Chantilly, Uliano Vezzani of.

9 Check: Brazil

The Brazilian Global Champions Tour tournament took place from September 2nd to the 4th September 2011 at riding the Sociedade Brasileira Hípica in Rio de Janeiro. Tournament organizer is Álvaro Affonso de Miranda Neto, who calls the tournament after his wife " Athina Onassis International Horse Show."

The special stage was discharged 4 September 2011 from 16.00 clock local time. With prize money of 1,000,000 € the Grand Prix of Rio de Janeiro is the most lucrative Jumping the world in 2011 - before the likewise discharged in September 2011 Grand Prix in Calgary ( with C $ 1,000,000 in prize money ) and Saugerties ( 1000. 000 U.S. $ price money).

Course designers in this test was the Belgian Luc Musette. 10 Check: United Arab Emirates

In 2011, there was a stage of the Global Champions Tour in the United Arab Emirates for the first time. The tournament was held on November 26, 2011 at the Al Forsan International Sports Resort in Abu Dhabi on November 24. The prize money in this last test of the season amounted to € 400,000.

In the first round of testing 13 riders remain error-free, three only had time penalties. In 2011, the Global Champions Tour has been decided for the second time in a row based on the final overall standings after the last special stage. Based on this ranking a bonus prize money was awarded to the most successful rider of the Global Champions Tour at the end of the season.
