2011 World Cup (snooker)

The World Cup 2011 (also: PTT - EGAT Snooker World Cup ) was a snooker tournament which was held in Bangkok from 11 to 17 July 2011. It was an invitational tournament as part of the main tour of the snooker season 2011/12.

In the final, the team of China continued with 4-2 against Northern Ireland.

The tournament took place last 2001 Nations Cup. Defending Scotland (Stephen Hendry, John Higgins, Alan McManus ) defeated then Ireland ( Ken Doherty, Fergal O'Brien, Michael Judge ) in the final 6-2.

Regulate

Twenty teams consisting of two players who participated in the tournament. The best eight teams (in terms of Snooker world rankings ) were set. Thailand could pose as the host nation's two teams. The teams were randomly assigned four groups. The top two teams in the group stage were qualified for the quarter-finals.

Group stage

Each game consisted of 5 frames. Each player of the team had to compete in a frame on any player of the opposing team. In addition, another double was played, in which all four players played together a frame.

The 5 frames were played in the following order:

For each frame there was a point gained. Had the end of the group stage two teams have the same score, so the team was valued higher, who won in a direct duel. Had three or more teams have the same score, so the next round in the group was determined by a Blue - Ball Shootout. If two or more teams ranked 3-5 had the same score, the respective prize money was divided.

Finals

In the final round, a best -of -7 was played, with the decisive frame: it was after 6 frames 3:3 was played in a single match.
