2012 CAF Champions League

The CAF Champions League 2012 is the 16th edition of the tournament organized by CAF. It began on 17 February 2012 with the first round. Espérance Sportive titleholder was de Tunis from Tunisia. On November 17, 2012 Al Ahly Cairo won his seventh title after the team defeated last year's winner after a 1-1 draw in the first leg, the second leg 2-1.

Qualification

Theoretically, all 55 member associations of CAF are entitled to send teams. For the best twelve national associations of CAF - five-year rating two starting places are automatically reserved. This is valid for the qualification for the Champions League 2012, the rating of the years 2006 to 2010. Thus apparent from the number of members of the CAF football associations that a maximum of 67 teams in the Champions League could participate.

Open to two teams from the following countries, listed in order of the five-year summary:

All other countries have a starting place.

Preliminary round

First leg from February 17 to 19, Second leg matches from 2nd to 4th March 2012.

First round

First leg from March 23 to 25, Second leg matches from 6 to 8 April 2012.

Second round

First leg from April 27 to 29, Second leg matches from 11 to 13 May 2012.

Quarter-final ( Group Stage )

In the quarter-final group stage occur in two groups of four teams in home and away matches against each other. The group winners and runners qualify for the semifinals.
