2012 Paris–Nice
The 70th - wheel voyage Paris-Nice was held until March 11, 2012 from 4. The stage race is part of the UCI World Tour on and within this the second race after the Tour Down Under. The total race distance was 1115.5 km. Unlike previous sweeps the race did not end this year with a circuit in and around Nice, but with a mountain time trial up the Col d' Eze.
After the eighth and final stage was Bradley Wiggins, who won the points classification in itself, of Team Sky Procycling at the top of the overall standings.

Eligible were the 18 ProTeam and the French Professional Continental teams Cofidis, Team Europcar, Saur - Sojasun and the Dutch team Project 1t4i who received a wild card from the organizer Amaury Sport Organisation on 18 January 2012.
Stages
The route of the race was officially presented to the public on 3 February 2012, but was made famous a few days earlier.
As in every year was the route of Paris -Nice in 2012 again from north to south to the city of Nice on the Côte d' Azur. Unlike last year, when a regular road stage had formed the prelude to the voyage, the "Race to the Sun " began again in 2012 with an individual time trial, which took place about 20 kilometers southwest of Paris. This was followed by a flat portion to Orléans. Then stood on each day several climbs on the program, the fifth stage ended with an uphill finish of the first category. In the penultimate section, the driver reach the destination Nice, where the next day in a mountain time trial up the Col d' Eze, which was back on the plan for the first time since 2001, the decision for the victory fell.

Bradley Wiggins is the first British winner of Paris -Nice since Tom Simpson in 1967. He took over the jersey of overall leader already on the second stage to Orleans, as the field is divided into a strong headwind and a 21 -member group with 2 ½ minutes ahead the goal reached. In the suspended main field is also the former Paris -Nice winner Tony Martin and Andreas Kloden were. Wiggins was able to defend it to the end and by his victory in the final uphill time trial also assume the green jersey for the most points from the leading in this rating until then Alejandro Valverde, the total third party. Lieuwe Westra completed as second on the podium. Best was Tejay van Garderen young professional, won the mountain jersey Frederik Veuchelen.
