Alexei Kalyuzhny

Aljaksej Mikalayevich Kalyuzhny (White Russian Аляксей Мікалаевіч Калюжны, Russian Алексей Николаевич Калюжный / Alexei Nikolayevich Kalyuzhny; born June 13, 1977 in Minsk, Byelorussian SSR) is a Belarusian professional ice hockey player of the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl plays in the Kontinental Hockey League since September 2013.

Career

Aljaksej Kalyuzhny began his career as a hockey player with the HK Dynamo Moscow, for whom he made ​​his debut in the Russian Super League in the 1994/95 season. After a year in their league rivals Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk 1996 he returned back to Dynamo Moscow, with whom he became Champion of Russia for the first time in the 1999/2000 season. He then signed a contract with HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk, with whom he won the championship again in 2001. After two years of leaving the attacker Metallurg and changed also for two years Severstal Cherepovets with which he was runner-up in 2003.

In the summer of 2004 Kalyuzhny was taken from HK Avangard Omsk under contract, with whom he won the IIHF European Champions Cup in 2005. After four years in Omsk Kalyuzhny returned 2008 back to HK Dynamo Moscow, which he then won the Spengler Cup.

2010 merged Dynamo Moscow with the HK MVD Balaschicha and Kalyuzhny HK Avangard Omsk changed again for. With Omsk he reached the play- off final in which his team was defeated by OHK Dynamo in the 2011/12 season. He also took part in the KHL All-Star Game in 2012. In May 2012, Kalyuzhny received a two-year contract with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, which was dissolved in June 2013. Subsequently, he was without a club before he was obliged by HK Dinamo Minsk in September of the same year.

Internationally

For Belarus Kalyuzhny participated in the Junior C World Championships in 1996 and 1997, as well as the B World Championships in 1997, 2002 and 2004 in part. In addition, he was in the squad of Belarus at the A World Championships in 1998, 1999, 2000, 2001, 2003, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2012, as well as at the Olympic Winter Games in 1998, 2002 and 2010.
