André Noyelle

André Noyelle ( born November 29, 1931 in Ypres, † February 4, 2003 in Poperinge ) was a Belgian racing cyclist.

Noyelle was from 1953 to 1966 professional and was able to win a total of 48 victories during this time. His greatest successes, however, dated before his professional time. So it was in 1952 at the World Championships of Amateur runner-up and won at the Summer Olympics in the same year in Helsinki with both the team and the individual road race gold medal.

Noyelle is the only Belgian, who succeeded so far to win a gold medal in an Olympic individual road race. Because of this success, he was elected belgischeb Athlete of the Year as well as the Trophée du Mérite National Sportive, which can be obtained only once in a lifetime, excellent.
