Geographical location

Bad Peterstal located at 400 to 1000 meters altitude in the upper Rench valley in Baden, Black Forest.

Neighboring communities

The municipality is bordered to the north by Baiersbronn, to the east by Bad Rippoldsau- Schapbach, both in the district of Freudenstadt, on the south by Oberwolfach, on the southwest by Oberharmersbach and to the west by the city Oppenau.

Community structure

Bad Peterstal consists of the formerly independent towns of Bad Griesbach, Bad Peterstal ( Renchtal ). The municipality consists of 51 villages, hamlets, tine, farms and houses.

In the hamlet of Bad Griesbach in Bad Griesbach leavened the village Döttelbach that risen in place Wilde Rench villages Herbstwasen and Rear Heidenbühl, the leavened in Breiteberg Holzbühl and dialed villages Mühlbach and Wüstebach were.

The former municipality of Bad Griesbach is a village within the meaning of Baden-Württemberg municipal code with private Ortschaftsrat and the mayor as its chairman.

History

The two places that form a church today, belonged since the end of the 14th century to the Archbishopric of Strasbourg, where they were assigned to the reign of Oberkirch. In the context of secularization because of Reichsdeputationshauptschluss conclusion they fell in 1803 to the electorate (1803 - 1806), later Grand Duchy (from 1806 ) Baden, where they were the county Offenburg, from 1939, the county Offenburg was allocated. When it was dissolved in 1973, both communities came to the new Ortenaukreis. On January 1, 1973, the formerly independent village was incorporated Bad Griesbach in Bad Peterstal ( Renchtal ), the church in Bad Peterstal was renamed on 1 July 1973.

Traffic

Both districts are connected via the Rench Valley Railway to Appenweier by the Ortenau S -Bahn to the national rail network. Bus connections are given by the so-called SüdwestBus. The national road 28 passes through both districts.
