Geography

Geographical Location

The small spa resort Hofstetten is located in the central Black Forest 250-726 meters above sea level in a valley of the Kinzig valley in a quiet location just off the main road 33 Nearly two-thirds of the municipal area is forested.

The municipality is bordered to the north by the city Haslach, to the east by Mill creek, on the south by the city Elzach and Biederbach, both in Emmendingen, and to the west by Schuttertal and Steinach.

History

Hofstetten was first mentioned in documents in 1353. It was at that time under the Count of Fürstenberg. There was one from the 16th century to the upper Bailiwick Office Haslach. 1806 was the site of the Grand Duchy of Baden, where it first on to the now county Haslach mentioned office belonged. In its resolution 1857 Hofstetten came to the district office Wolfach, which was renamed to the district Wolfach 1939. Blazon: " Azure, on a green sign foot a silver church in a side view with an attached rear tower with octagonal top ."

The Church in today's coat of arms shows in Weinbrenner style (see below) in 1835 completed St. Erhard Pfarrkuratiekirche. 1685 shows a seal image in a section surrounded by a cloud round shield with a church behind angefügtem on the long side tower, another seal image of 1715 in similar and flanked Baroque shield a house with a projecting at the right corner masonry. The surrounding clouds cut reminiscent of the former belonging to the prince Bergisch land until 1806.   • St. Erhard, cath. Pfarrkuratiekirche in Weinbrenner style, built in 1833-1835 by Baurat Hans Voss with a rare octagonal bell tower top ( top ) and spire on a square base in Baden neo-classical churches only in St. John the Baptist in Oppenau (built by F. Economy and infrastructure

The main sources of income are agriculture and tourism. There are in the small community still about 20 agricultural commercial farms and twice as many part-time farms.

Education

In Hofstetten there is a primary and secondary school. All secondary schools are located in the nearby towns of Haslach and Hausach.
