The district of Bernburg was a county in the southern center of the federal state of Saxony -Anhalt. On 1 July 2007 he went as part of the district reform in Saxony -Anhalt on the new Salzlandkreis.

Geography

The area of the former district, named after its county town Bernburg, lay on the southern edge of Magdeburg on the Saale River, almost exactly in the middle between Halle ( Saale) Magdeburg. History

In the Duchy of Anhalt Bernburg the county was formed in 1863 from part of the country Anhalt- Bernburg. After 1918 had become of the Duchy of Anhalt The Free State of Anhalt, the district was called from 1933 County Bernburg. At the same time the town Bernburg 1933 1933 cycle-free.
