Blarians

Blarians is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Blarians is located at 240 m, about 23 km northeast of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located on a hill at the edge of Talniederung Ognon opposite Beaumotte - Aubertans, amid the rolling countryside in the extreme northwest of the Doubs.

The area of ​​only 0.89 km ² municipal area comprises a portion of Ognon Valley. The boundaries of the area on three sides (north, west and south ) from the river Ognon, with the large loops here flows through a flat Talniederung, which is about one kilometer wide. Former gravel and sand pits in the valley were filled with water. From the river, the municipality's area extends east across the broad flood plain to a hill on which 267 m is the highest point of Blarians is achieved.

Neighboring communities of Blarians are Beaumotte - Aubertans in the north, Germondans the east, and La Barre to the south and west.

History

In the Middle Ages Blarians belonged to the rule Granges, which was under the Counts of Montbéliard since the 14th century. Together with the Franche -Comté reached the village with the Peace of Nijmegen in 1678 definitively to France. Today Blarians part of the community association Communauté de communes de la Bussière.

Population

With 55 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Blarians is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. Throughout the 20th century, the population moved always in the range between 20 and 57 people.

Economy and infrastructure

Blarians was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) embossed village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.

The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road that leads from Rigney after Beaumotte - Aubertans. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 12 km.
