Rougemontot
Rougemontot is a commune in the French department Doubs in the Franche -Comté.
Geography
Rougemontot is located on 263 m, 9 km north- west of Baume- les -Dames and about 25 km northeast of the city of Besançon (air line). The village is located in the valley of the Ruisseau de la Beune south Ognon, on Nordostfuß of Mont Bichoux, one of the extreme north-western mountain ranges of the Jura.
The area of 4.25 km ² municipal area includes a portion of the undulating landscape between the river valleys of the Doubs and Ognon. The northern part of the area is occupied by the valley of the Ruisseau de la Beune, which provides for the drainage to the north- west to Ognon. Flanked the valley of densely wooded heights: in the east of the height of the Bois des Perrières and southwest from the Bois du Mont About this forest back to the community area extends to Mont Bichoux. Here the highest elevation of Rougemontot is achieved with 474 m.
Neighboring communities of Rougemontot are Battenans -les -Mines to the north, La Bretenière in the east, Villers- Grélot in the south and Cendrey in the West.
History
An iron ore was mined at an early age Rougemontot. Today, the village is part of the community association Communauté de communes de la Bussière.
Population
With 88 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) Rougemontot is one of the smallest municipalities of the department of Doubs. After the population had decreased significantly in the first half of the 20th century (1891 194 persons were still counted ), a population growth was recorded since the mid-1960s again.
Economy and infrastructure
Rougemontot was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. Even today, the inhabitants live on the merits of the activity in the first sector. Outside of the primary sector, there are few jobs in the village. The former mines are now used for mushroom cultivation. Some employed persons are also commuters who engage in the surrounding larger towns of their work.
The village is located off the major thoroughfares on a secondary road, leading from Baume- les -Dames by Larians -et- Munans. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 14 km. Another road connection with Battenans -les -Mines.
